Republican Scherie Murray has left the New York’s 14th congressional district primary election race where she was challenging Democrat representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. While announcing the dropout, Murray declared that Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s COVID-19 lockdown orders hurt her campaign. In her statement, Murray called Cuomo’s measures “undemocratic.”
She also said that the dropout “not the end for Scherie Murray,” and that she will proceed to fight “socialists are legislators.”
Murray halted her campaign after filing a lawsuit against her former contractor for alleged missteps in the process of acquiring signatures on her account.
Andrew Shannon, one of the consultants for that campaign, stated that Murray is getting revenge after he himself had sued her earlier for violating the contract, says the Daily News.
