The Texas Democratic Party has sued Governor Greg Abbott and other members of the state administration who continue to support the straight-ticket voting process during the Coronavirus epidemic.
May 2nd and May 26th mark the nearest election dates. Since the world still does not have any official vaccine for the COVID-19 epidemic, it is almost impossible to predict if the situation is going to be less risky. Nevertheless, the Republican Party has strongly opposed the remote voting system that would prevent the Texans from exposure to the virus.
The Democrats tried to explain the situation to Gov Abbott and Secretary of State Hughes, but to no avail. Therefore, they decided to fight their cause in a court of law.
Chairman of the Texas Democratic Party Gilberto Hinojosa released the statement following the lawsuit on April 7th. He noted that the law allows indisposed citizens to vote by mail”. This can be applied to all Texans considering the official stay-at-home orders due to the quarantine.
