Today marks a milestone in the annals of US history. The US is no longer a part of the Paris accord and becomes officially out. The accord includes among its ranks approximately 200 of the leading countries in the world. All are committed to ensuring zero carbon emissions and a targeted range of planet temperatures. This is because they believe that the wildfires, hurricanes etc are the result of the warming of Earths temperatures. The current incumbent does not believe this and has a long term plan to get the US out. It will be no surprise to some that the nominee candidate has a completely opposing view. He has stated the united states will reapply to join the accord the minute he becomes president.
The issue is not about leaving or rejoining that is the easy bit. It is the commitment to meeting targets which the US as the second-largest greenhouse emitter is falling further behind on.
